GIFTS AND DONATIONS:

Four people donated books in the "Adopt an Author" program

Fifteen people donated books for our sale and for our collection – 7 of them were on last Saturday!

Stephanie Stoddard has almost single-handedly built up our book on CD collection.  She donated 2 more bags this month!

We received a form to apply for our yearly check from the Dept. of Libraries (with monies from the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences in the form of a federal grant from the Library Services and Technology Act  - LSTA - ) to help defray the cost of sending ILL books to other libraries.  The amount we will be receiving this year is: $76.

WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING:

Dick Nessen brought many boxes of books to the Transfer station for us.  They were  on tables that we needed for our story hour program.  Thanks Dick!

2 of Susan Oliveau's classmates who donated to the bench in her garden visited.  They were impressed with the garden and asked where the plaque was on the bench.  Her class donated the funds to purchase the bench.  I called Don Oliveau, who was working on getting this and he is going to order it for us.  Her classmates provided the wording.

Dan Ober finished the teak sign that says, "SusansGarden."  I left a message with Luke asking him to put it up for us.

Thanks Floyd for mowing the front lawn.  It looks great and should be ready for our big event on July 31st.  I called Skylar Gale to tell him that we didn't need him.

At this date, according to Larry, we have made $2,440 in raffle ticket sales.

The summer childrensprogram is going quite well with over 50 children signed up and reading!  We had great attendance at our first Drama class and the story times have had good attendance also.  My philosophy is to get the kids reading and/or the parents reading to them.  I feel gratified by the children who are excited about setting a personal goal for pages read and are surpassing it!

This week we will have an author visit on Thursday, with James Percocco who is from Virginia.  It starts at 7pm.  He will talk about his book, Summers with Lincoln.  I hope that some of the Trustees can make it.  I'd like to have a nice showing for him, since he is driving over from Morrisville.  The book is about his travels to the various sites honoring Abraham Lincoln.  It has been going out quite regularly.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:

Lisa Prescott mentioned that we need to return the 2 tables to Burnham Hall soon.  I need some help delivering them back.  Is anyone available?
(Note:  I had called Jody  and she said that she would let me know when they were needed, but I guess she forgot , so Lisa mentioned it.)

The front of the building is full of cobwebs.  I'm thinking of calling a volunteer to sweep them out.  What do you think?

Annie Leadbetter is out of town until August.  Should I call a volunteer to week SusansGarden?
