HIGHLIGHTS

  • We received the Vermont Library Association Calendar information.  We are being featured on December 2011 – a little disappointing, but we will make it work.  We will be receiving 50 copies, so hopefully folks will pre-buy.  At this point we have only sold 8 calendars.  We have to send our order in next Wednesday.  I will call the Librarian in charge to see if we still have to order 50 or not…

  • We showed a movie for the general public about making fabric Thangkas in July. It was well attended and Leila suggested having a monthly interfaith movie on a Friday evening. I would consider it only if others were willing to set up, etc. as I often go away on weekends and have a monthly teen movie night also.  Good idea though…

8/20 – Library Trustees: Floyd Hall, Mary Benton, Susie and Henry Wilmer attended a ceremony during which Lincoln resident Norma Robinson presented her collection of 30+ copies of Agatha Christie vinyl-bound novels, plus 2 companion books.  Thank you all for coming.

8/22 -  I held our end of the summer reading program party today.  We had 20 children attend with their parents.  It was a lot of fun, but really illustrated to me that I need to get some help in this area (Summer Reading Program) next year.  With all that is going on in my personal life, plus my other duties, I find that I am ready to let someone else take the summer program over.

8/25-  I donated a child’s rocking chair that needed some repair.  Luke Curtis fixed it up and brought it in today.  Also, his sister, Ann Odom, passed away this morning after being struck by a bus.

8/26 -  Susan Oliveau’s cousin, Lynn Chase, and her husband were here to visit Susan’s garden and take some pictures.  They also purchased a calendar.  Very touching…

8/29 -  Our ditch performed very well during Tropical Storm Irene on Sunday, Aug.28th.  Yay!

Building and Grounds info:
8/31 -  A “mystery” person mowed  our front lawn today.

8/31 -  Harry Reynolds brought in the shelf that he made.  He had taken it home to remove a shelf and stabilize it so that it will not tip over.  It will display books written by Lincoln authors and also Vermont authors.

9/2 – Roger Jimmo suggested installing a chair rail behind the leather chair in the Children’s Room.  The paint and sheetrock have been damaged by it.  I called Luke and he will look at it.

9/7 -  We had to cancel Pike due to the flood and River Road being impassable. Since the road is open and weather permitting J  I will call Pike on Monday (9/12) to deliver the stone.

9/9 – Stephen Taylor fixed our “New Books” white board for us.  He installed a new board and will not charge us for labor, just materials.  Thank you:  716 West Hill Road   Lincoln

ACTION ITEMS:

  • Dick spoke to me about the letter to townspeople about everyone having a Library card.  I mentioned that it would be time soon to begin thinking about our yearly appeal letter.  He suggested that we include his letter with the appeal.

  • I have asked a few people about being a trustee with no luck.  I still have to send out an email…
